Storing Peppers

The other day I went out in my garden and had a few more peppers that I could pick and do something with and so I decided to dehydrate them. It is so easy to do this.. All I did was washed them really well and cut them in slices and put them in the dryer for the 2 days it told me to and than I put them in this quart jar. It is very nice to dry things becuase it gives you a lot more room in storing your food because it takes less space. I was able to fit all the peppers that I had picked into one jar. Than when your ready to use them just pull out however many you need and there you have it..They are best in like casseroles and soups. They wont be as crunchy as if you had just picked them....

All of my peppers cut up.

Now in the jar ready to store!

72-Hour Food Supply

My husband brought home a paper that one of the guys that he works with gave him, and all the information was on 72 hour items, I sat down and read all of it and it had some very valuable information on it. I than got thinking I better get mine out and see what I have compared to this list, well I hate to say it but I didn't even have a fourth of the stuff it recommended. To make it even worse all of my food in my 72 hour kit was expired and I'm not even going to tell you by how many years, so today I rounded up most of the stuff I needed to replace my food with, with the exception of buying a few new things and put together my up to date food. Here are the pictures of how I put mine together and what I store them in. I also have the list that Clint brought home to me if you would like a copy of it please leave a comment with your email address and I will get you one. If you have any other questions or anything you would like to ask me don't be afraid to.

Sorting out all the food.

Finished product.

Here is the list that I put on the front of the containers. I will suggest one thing when it says to put gum in there DO NOT put any gum with a mint flavor, all of your food will taste like mint. I just used the good old juicy fruit.

90 Minute Shirt

I found this shirt off of a friends blog, Kristen's, she had made some for her little boy and I thought I am gonna make some for Oakley just for summer to go outside and play in and not ruin her good clothes. All you need is an old shirt. The instructions and tutorial can be found here http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/tutorial-90-minute-shirt.html. It shows you how to make a pattern from a shirt you already have, but I just went to the DI found a shirt Oakley's size for $1 and picked it apart and used that for my pattern. Here's how it turned out...

The shirt is different because I asked Oakley which one she wanted and she actually picked the other one.

This is actually the front.
This is the back, the Old Navy logo would not fit on the front of the shirt so I had to put it on the back!

Homemade Dishwasher Soap

So here is the recipe for the homemade dishwasher soap. They say you can put 1/4 cup vinegar in the rinse, but I never do.

Dishwasher Soap
1 tbsp Borax
1 tbsp Baking soda

Just put where you would put your regular soap.

Oakley's Dresses

So I got this pattern for these dresses from my sister and they were so easy to make so I made three and still have one more to go but it's not done yet. The first two are obviously the same pattern just reversed and the second one is going to be her Easter dress, they turned out so cute and I have already ordered some more patterns and I am so excited to try them and see if I can make them as well!!!
